EPA Proposes Approval of Public Participation Rules in Texas’ Clean-Air Plan

(DALLAS – November 30, 2012)  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed to approve the Texas clean-air plan that covers public notification requirements for facilities applying for air permits.  The proposed approval applies to existing facilities that plan to make major changes as well as new projects.

Texas WDB launches website with reservoir information

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has launched a new website www.waterdatafortexas.org, which will provide the most comprehensive information available on Texas reservoir conditions. TWDB compiled extensive records from federal, state, and local partners to generate current and historical information on reservoir levels, storage, surface area, and elevation-area-capacity curves. In many cases, the website provides data for the entire history of the reservoir.

AUSTIN, Texas - A new study based on census figures shows the gap between the rich and poor continues to grow quickly. The most recent figures say Texas has the seventh-highest inequality of any state. Analysts say it's becoming a serious issue for the economy as a whole.

Texas Employers Add 36,600 Jobs in October

Unemployment rate falls again

 

AUSTIN — Employers added 36,600 total nonfarm jobs in October in Texas for a total of 277,400 jobs added over the year. The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.6 percent in October from 6.8 percent in September. The unemployment rate in Texas remains well below the national rate of 7.9 percent.

Hiring Red, White & You! Veterans Job Fairs 

Scheduled for November 15 

 

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), in partnership with 28 local workforce development areas, will host statewide veterans job fairs on November 15. Hiring Red, White & You! is a joint initiative supported by Gov. Rick Perry, Dr. “Red” Duke Jr., the Texas Veterans Commission and TWC to connect our returning veterans in Texas with Texas employers.
