Salado Village Voice Dining Guide The following cafes, restaurants, barbecue joints and fine dining inns are regular advertisers in the Salado Village Voice newspaper. You can find a wide variety of dining in Salado. Cowboy's Bar-B-Q: Located at 1300 N. Robertson Rd., exit #285 off I-35, Cowboy's Barbecue has been specializing in slow cooking and fast service for more than two decades. Come discover their Brisket, Sausage, Turkey, Ham, Chicken, Pork Tenderlion, Inn on the Creek A Salado tradition since 1987, the Inn on the Creek offers fine-dining by candlelight on Fri. and Sat. evenings in a historic Victorian home. Price of meal includes appetizer, soup/salad, main course and dessert, all homemade. One seating a night, beginning at 7:30 p.m., although most guests choose to arrive early for a drink on the large porches overlooking the rolling creek. The Inn on the Creek is known for its creative cuisine and elegant setting, and most recipes are house creations. Specialties include the cheesecake appetizers, black angus beef tenderloin, prime rib and even lobster, all served with a multitude of gourmet sides. Each menu is designed with a complimentary motif, but is set in advance, so call ahead. Accommodations can be made for special diets, such as vegetarians, if requested in advance. Dinner is served by reservation only. Group or corporate dinners can be arranged for weeknights. The Inn is also a popular setting for weddings and receptions, and has won many awards since opening more than 21 years ago. Atmosphere is dress/casual. The Range at the Barton House: Located in the historic Barton House on Main Street, this elegant eatery offers some of the finest dining you’ll find in this part of the state. Its food has been ranked as some of the best in Texas, and its down-home selections and atmosphere have remained unchanged. Waitresses still recite the menu, and the hushpuppies are still cooked from scratch. Banana fritters close out meals with a Texas flavor. Serving lunch and dinner, with daily fresh-cooked specials.
